CSHB Confirms Executive for Coming Year

Ottawa, Ontario - September 2, 2010 - At its Annual Meeting today, the Canadian Swine Health Board (CSHB) re-confirmed its Executive members for the coming year. Re-elected were: Florian Possberg, a  producer from Saskatchewan representing the Canadian Pork Council (CPC), as Chair; William Ballantyne, representing the Canadian Meat Council, as 1st Vice-Chair; and Jean-Guy Vincent, a producer from Québec representing the CPC, as 2nd Vice-Chair.

"I am pleased to accept the mandate and look forward to continuing to work with stakeholders in improving the health of the Canadian swine industry," said Florian Possberg.

The Canadian Swine Health Board’s mandate is to provide leadership and coordination in support of the management of the health of the Canadian swine herd, in the three main areas of Biosecurity, Research and Long Term Disease Risk Management. National stakeholder organizations have named representatives to serve on advisory committees for each of the three pillars, providing valuable advice to the Board on strategies to effectively address CSHB’s key initiatives.

The CSHB was formed to proactively address swine health challenges through leadership, coordination and support in the management of the health of the Canadian swine herd. Its members include the Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians, the Canadian Association of Veterinary Colleges, the Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement, the Canadian Meat Council and the Canadian Pork Council.
